Chester
Chester is a two year old male with a big heart. He tends to keep away from the main hustle and bustle of the Cattery, so you may find him resting in one of the tree houses, or in a quiet corner checking things out from afar. Don’t let his distance fool you…he is a loving cat who enjoys being petted. It might take just a little time before he will venture out into your arms…but with a little patience and a few head scratches, he will be the loving forever friend that you’ve been waiting for!
View Chester's online profile, or visit him at the Animal Defense League, 11300 Nacogdoches Rd, San Antonio, TX.

San Antonio Pets Alive Kitten Ward Needs You!
Looking
for a rewarding volunteer experience? San
Antonio Pets Alive, a rescue organization, takes kittens from the euthanasia list at Animal Care Services and gives them a second chance. Because of the huge number of abandoned kittens at this time of year, Animal Care Services may euthanize up to 100 kittens in a day. Pets Alive needs all the help they can get to save these babies. There are 140+ kittens in the Marbach Rd. Kitten Unit.
You can support their efforts by volunteering to help feed, clean, cuddle and foster these babies. Many of them require bottle feeding. You can share the experience with your family and children can also bottle feed under parental supervision. Evening volunteers are especially needed – even a couple of hours would make a huge difference and save lives!

Catalina
Catalina is a special grey Tabby. Her beautiful facial markings make her stand out among the crowd. Don't be concerned that the tip of her ear is missing. She used to be one of the outdoor cats at the Animal Defense League, and that is a sign that she was spayed. They quickly realized that she was not feral - she rubbed up against all the visitors, looking for some attention.
Catalina is longing for an affectionate home where she can be appreciated and loved. She will make a wonderful addition to your family and will give her love and loyalty in return. View Catalina's profile on the Animal Defense League website, or visit her in person at 11300 Nacogdoches Rd., San Antonio, TX.

Free Spay-Neuter Program for San Antonio Stray Cats
An ongoing program at the SNAP Spay-Neuter and Animal Wellness Clinic in San Antonio enables residents of the 78228 zip code to get community cats spayed or neutered for free thanks to a generous grant from The Summerlee Foundation. The grant covers free spay-neuter surgery for 100 community (feral, stray, or otherwise homeless) cats from within this zip code. It also reduces the cost of a rabies vaccinations (which is required by state law if you cannot provide a rabies certificate to prove the animal is already vaccinated) to just $5. This makes helping those homeless kitties inexpensive indeed!
You must bring the cat(s) to the SNAP clinic at 6758 Ingram Rd. in San Antonio. Cats will be accepted from residents of the zip code or trappers identifying where cats were trapped within the zip code. All cats will have the tip of their left ear removed as a sign that they have been sterilized. There are no exceptions to this rule. Appointments are preferred, but SNAP will accept cats in live traps without an appointment. Call 210-673-7722 or email SA-Appointments@snapus.org to set up an appointment or for more information.
SNAP would like to express its sincere appreciation to The Summerlee Foundation for funding this program to help address the problem of free roaming cats in the 78228 zip code.
